Executive Chef and Owner
Alex Kimber

Alex worked at Wimbledon as a Sous chef and has worked his art developing and producing food for a wide range of clients that include elite athletes and celebrities

They have been on the Island for the last three years and built The Cottage in Shanklin into an award winning place to dine earning rave reviews and accolades.

During lockdown Alex and Laura re-evaluated their situation which lead to the opening of Heron in Ryde.

Dishes at Heron are based on locally sourced and seasonal produce to create high quality fine dining meals.

Liam
Head Chef

Liam is an Island born and raised Chef.

He learnt the trade straight out of school, where he went onto being a Head Chef at the age of 24, and has since continued winning various accolades and awards!

Chef Alex and Head Chef Liam have some wonderful menu collaborations in mind, which we think will take Heron to the next level!

Outside of work Liam is a dedicated husband to his high school sweetheart Chloe. They have just welcomed their first baby little Wren in March 2023.

Lucy

Lucy joined us in August. If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting and being served by her, I’m sure you’ve noticed how friendly and caring she is! 

Such a lovely addition to our small team.

Furthermore, we’re very proud that Lucy has recently completed a two week work experience at Le Gavroche to learn more about our precious industry! 

We really believe in personal and career development, so it will be such a lovely experience to watch her grow further.

Lisa

For 25 years, Lisa has been lucky enough to call the beautiful Isle of Wight her home.

 

She moved here with her parents at an early age and has loved living here ever since!

 

Now, as PA to Chef Alex Kimber at Heron, Lisa uses her years of business experience helping Alex and his team stay organised and on top of paperwork.

 

In her spare time, Lisa loves to travel the world, sampling amazing cuisine - but nothing beats the food back home at Heron!

She lives with her husband and their dog in Cowes, and looks after their stable yard where her daughter’s horses are kept

Matthew & Denise

Matthew and Denise are the proud owners of Heron Lounge in partnership with Alex and Laura of Heron restaurant.


They have been together for 24 years and always dreamed of moving to this beautiful island, they never dreamed that the move would involve opening a Wine/Cocktail bar but thanks to Alex and Laura they have been lucky enough to do just that and they are loving every minute of this exciting new adventure.


Keep an eye out for Remus their beloved dog who loves to spend his time looking out the window and waiting for a fuss.


They look forward to welcoming you in for a drink in their relaxed and friendly bar.
